Outcomes of MSKPN data quality standards

This section will be routinely updated to showcase outcomes from member uptake of collecting and analysing the MSKPN recommended quality standards. The first trial of data collection was completed in June 2021. The results of this small sample (N=30) are presented below and highlighted several valuable points of learning:

• A small volume of outcomes can significantly skew results. This highlights a need for high levels of consistency in data collection across all team members within each participating member organisation.
• Clinicians need to support patients with an accurate interpretation of each outcome scoring approach, i.e. if 0 is ‘worst possible’ and 10 is ‘best possible’ this needs to be well understood as results can appear highly negative with misinterpretations.
• ICD and OSIICs codes are difficult to find in early stages of capturing this data but they become more familiar with each clinician the more they adopt this approach.
• It helps to have one member of the team lead on early implementation of this process in each clinic and to plan regular forums (suggest monthly) for all team members to explore the finding and completion rates.
